Description
Special Weather Statement issued October 14 at 3:46AM EDT by NWS Melbourne FL
At 345 AM, satellite imagery and surface observations show a large
area of fog, just ahead of a cold front, spreading southeast into
northern Lake and northwestern Volusia Counties. Visibilities have
dropped below one mile in the fog, and were as low as one quarter
to one half mile in some locations.
The fog is expected to spread south to the I-4 corridor through
sunrise, then dissipate between 8 and 9 AM. Motorists who will be
driving in areas near and northwest of I-4 early this morning
should prepare for the likelihood of encountering locally dense
fog on their commute. Reduce your speed, use only your low beam
headlights, and leave extra distance between your vehicle and the
one in front of you.
Should dense fog with visibilities of 1/4 mile or less become
widespread this morning, then a Dense Fog Advisory will be issued.
