Description
Rip Current Statement issued November 24 at 10:51AM EST until November 25 at 4:00AM EST by NWS Melbourne FL

* WHAT...For the Coastal Flood Advisory, minor coastal flooding
is possible on Friday and Saturday mornings due to high
astronomical high tides and onshore winds. For the High Rip
Current Risk, dangerous life-threatening rip currents are
expected.

* WHERE...All Central Florida Atlantic Beaches.

* WHEN...For the High Rip Current Risk, through late tonight. For
the Coastal Flood Advisory, from 7 AM EST Friday morning
through 11 AM EST Saturday morning.

* IMPACTS...Some flooding of low-lying lots, parks, and roadways
may occur near the shore line. Only isolated road closures are
expected. Minor beach erosion will also be possible, especially
in vulnerable areas. Rip currents can sweep even the best
swimmers away from shore into deeper water.

* ADDITIONAL DETAILS...Coastal flooding will be worst during the
morning high tide cycles Friday morning around 8 AM to 10 AM and
9 AM to 11 AM Saturday morning.

Rip currents are powerful channels of water flowing quickly away
from shore, which occur most often at low spots or breaks in the
sandbar and in the vicinity of structures such as jetties and
piers. Heed the advice of lifeguards, beach patrol flags and
signs.

The threat for these dangerous rip currents will be greatest a
couple of hours prior to and after low tide, occurring around 2
PM and 2 AM today.

A Coastal Flood Advisory indicates that onshore winds and tides
will combine to generate flooding of low areas along the shore
with minor beach errosion possible.
