Special Weather Statement issued January 22 at 5:44PM EST by NWS Pittsburgh PA
At 543 PM EST, an area of heavy snow, possibly mixed with sleet, was
located near Wellsburg, moving northeast at 45 mph.
Locations impacted include...
Pittsburgh, Penn Hills, Mount Lebanon, Ross Township, McCandless
Township, Cranberry, Moon Township, Weirton, Steubenville, Butler,
Franklin Park, and Aliquippa.
This includes the following highways...
Pennsylvania Turnpike between mile markers 16 and 51.
Interstate 79 in Pennsylvania between mile markers 56 and 97.
Parkway North between mile markers 1 and 13.
Interstate 376 in Pennsylvania between mile markers 34 and 72.
Use extra caution if you must travel into or through this intense
snow shower. Rapid changes in visibility and potentially slick roads
are likely.
Conditions can deteriorate rapidly in winter weather situations. Be
prepared for snow or ice covered roads. Slow down and allow extra
time when traveling.
