Beach Hazards Statement issued January 23 at 5:44AM EST until January 23 at 7:00PM EST by NWS Melbourne FL

* WHAT...Strong, gusty northwest winds producing choppy surf and
breaking waves up to 3 to 4 feet. A building swell producing a
moderate risk for dangerous rip currents.

* WHERE...Coastal Volusia, Coastal Indian River, Coastal Saint
Lucie, Coastal Martin, Mainland Northern Brevard, Northern
Brevard Barrier Islands, Mainland Southern Brevard and
Southern Brevard Barrier Islands Counties.

* WHEN...Through this evening.

* IMPACTS...Rough surf will make swimming conditions hazardous.
Rip currents will also be present.

Swim near a lifeguard. If caught in a rip current, relax and
float. Don't swim against the current. If able, swim in a
direction following the shoreline. If unable to escape, face the
shore and call or wave for help.
