Coastal Flood Watch issued April 8 at 1:41PM EDT until April 11 at 4:00AM EDT by NWS Melbourne FL
* WHAT...The combination of strong and gusty onshore winds along
with building seas on Sunday will produce increasingly hazardous
conditions along the Volusia County coast. Onshore winds will
become gusty during the afternoon into the overnight with
sustained winds of 20 to 30 mph, and gusts up to 40 mph. Expect
a runup of surf during several high tides, beginning with the 9
to 11 PM high tide Sunday evening, through the high tide after
midnight on Tuesday morning. Large breakers, deadly rip currents
and moderate beach erosion will all be possible Sunday night
through Monday night.
* WHERE...Coastal Volusia County.
* WHEN...From Sunday afternoon through late Monday night.
* IMPACTS...Some roads may be closed. Low lying property including
homes, businesses and some critical infrastructure may be
inundated. Shoreline erosion will be likely.
Conditions favorable for coastal flooding are expected to
develop. Coastal residents should be alert for later statements
or warnings and take necessary actions to protect flood-prone
property.
