The National Weather Service in Melbourne has issued a
* Special Marine Warning for...
Flagler Beach to Volusia-Brevard County Line 0-20 nm...
Volusia-Brevard County Line to Sebastian Inlet 0-20 nm...
* Until 515 PM EDT.
* At 308 PM EDT, strong thunderstorms were located along a line
extending from 15 nm west of Daytona Beach to 13 nm northwest of
Canaveral Groves to 43 nm west of West Melbourne, moving east at
20 knots. These storms will approach the intracoastal and open
Atlantic waters over the next hour and will be offshore-moving.
HAZARD...Wind gusts 34 knots or greater.
SOURCE...Radar.
IMPACT...Expect wind gusts in excess of 34 knots, suddenly higher
waves, lightning and heavy downpours. Make sure all on
board are wearing life jackets. Return to safe harbor if
possible.
* Locations impacted include...
Port Saint John, Bellwood, Ormond Beach, Canaveral Groves, and
Rockledge.
Move to safe harbor until hazardous weather passes.
Frequent lightning is occurring with these storms. If caught on the
open water stay below deck if possible, keep away from ungrounded
metal objects.
