Description
Special Marine Warning issued September 26 at 8:14PM EDT until September 26 at 10:00PM EDT by NWS Melbourne FL
For the following areas...
Flagler Beach to Volusia-Brevard County Line 0-20 nm...
Flagler Beach to Volusia-Brevard County Line 20-60 nm...
At 814 PM EDT, strong thunderstorms were located along a line
extending from 22 nm east of Ormond-By-the-Sea to 11 nm northeast of
Daytona Beach Shores to near Port Orange, moving east at 35 knots.
HAZARD...Wind gusts 34 knots or greater.
SOURCE...Radar indicated.
IMPACT...Expect wind gusts in excess of 34 knots, suddenly higher
waves, lightning and heavy downpours. Make sure all on
board are wearing life jackets. Return to safe harbor if
possible.
Locations impacted include...
Harbor Oaks, Wilbur By The Sea, Ponce Inlet, Allandale, and New
Smyrna Beach Airport.
Move to safe harbor immediately as gusty winds and high waves are
expected.
Thunderstorms can produce sudden waterspouts. Waterspouts can easily
overturn boats and create locally hazardous seas. Seek safe harbor
immediately.
Frequent lightning is occurring with these storms. If caught on the
open water stay below deck if possible, keep away from ungrounded
metal objects.
Report severe weather to the Coast Guard or the National Weather
Service.
