Description
Beach Hazards Statement issued January 9 at 3:02AM EST until January 9 at 7:00PM EST by NWS Melbourne FL

* WHAT...For the High Surf Advisory, large breaking waves of 5 to
7 feet expected in the surf zone. For the Beach Hazards
Statement, rough choppy surf and a strong northward flowing
longshore current with a moderate risk of rip currents expected.

* WHERE...Coastal Volusia, Coastal Indian River, Coastal Saint
Lucie, Coastal Martin, and Coastal Brevard Counties.

* WHEN...For the High Surf Advisory, until 7 PM EST this
evening. For the Beach Hazards Statement, through this evening.

* IMPACTS...Dangerous swimming and surfing conditions and
localized beach erosion. Strong southerly winds will produce
rough surf and a strong northward flowing longshore current
today, which can push swimmers into deeper water unexpectedly
and make them more susceptible to dangerous rip currents.

High surf will affect the beaches in the advisory area, producing
localized beach erosion and dangerous swimming conditions.
Swimmers should remain out of the water due to large breaking
waves and dangerous surf conditions.
