Description
Flash Flood Warning issued May 8 at 3:25AM EDT until May 8 at 4:45AM EDT by NWS Pittsburgh PA
At 325 AM EDT, Doppler radar and automated rain gauges indicated
thunderstorms had produced heavy rain across the warned area.
Between 0.5 and 1.5 inches of rain have fallen. Flash flooding is
ongoing or expected to begin shortly.
HAZARD...Flash flooding caused by thunderstorms.
SOURCE...Radar and automated gauges.
IMPACT...Flash flooding of small creeks and streams, urban areas,
highways, streets and underpasses as well as other poor
drainage and low-lying areas.
Some locations that will experience flash flooding include...
Pittsburgh, Penn Hills, Mount Lebanon, Bethel Park, Ross Township,
McCandless Township, Monroeville, Moon Township, McMurray,
McKeesport, Franklin Park, Jeannette, Vandergrift, Gastonville,
Shaler Township, Plum, West Mifflin, North Side Pittsburgh,
Baldwin and Upper St. Clair.
Turn around, don't drown when encountering flooded roads. Most flood
deaths occur in vehicles.
Be especially cautious at night when it is harder to recognize the
dangers of flooding.
