Beach Hazards Statement issued June 17 at 3:00AM EDT until June 18 at 4:00AM EDT by NWS Melbourne FL
* WHAT...Rough surf and a Moderate risk of life threatening rip
currents is expected.
* WHERE...Coastal Volusia, Coastal Indian River, Coastal Saint
Lucie, Coastal Martin, Mainland Northern Brevard, Northern
Brevard Barrier Islands, Mainland Southern Brevard and
Southern Brevard Barrier Islands Counties.
* WHEN...From 8 AM EDT this morning through late tonight.
* IMPACTS...Breezy east winds 15 to 20 mph with higher gusts
possible will produce rough surf. A Moderate risk of rip
currents also exists.
Swim near a lifeguard. If caught in a rip current, relax and
float. Don't swim against the current. If able, swim in a
direction following the shoreline. If unable to escape, face the
shore and call or wave for help.
